About The Position

The Department of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking to fill one or two full-time tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank (open rank). The ideal candidates will possess a strong capacity for research that significantly impacts public health, advances the field of epidemiology, and contributes to the department's teaching mission. As faculty members, they will be expected to develop independently funded research portfolios, produce impactful scholarly work, mentor master's and doctoral students, and teach core epidemiology methods and/or specialized courses. The department's core mission revolves around developing and applying research methodologies to understand the distribution and determinants of health and disease, and utilizing this knowledge to enhance population health. The department offers robust training in research methods and diverse opportunities to apply epidemiological principles to various health challenges.

• Demonstrate scholarly contributions to science.
• Demonstrate capacity to obtain extramural funding that supports independent research.
• Demonstrate classroom instruction.
• Demonstrate mentoring of master’s and doctoral students.

Nice To Haves

• For Associate Professor: Demonstrate research leadership through funded epidemiologic research (as PI/MPI on grants or contracts) and a track record for training graduate students (through mentoring and teaching).
• For Full Professor: Demonstrate excellence in scholarship with national or international recognition, and research leadership with sustained research funding (as PI/MPI on grants or contracts).

Responsibilities
