The Industrial Mechanical Technician Mid Skilled role involves performing repairs and preventive maintenance on various industrial equipment in a team-oriented and safety-conscious environment. This position may require moderate supervision and follow-up, with expectations for task completion ranging from direct supervision to independent work based on assigned tasks and employee development. The role also involves assisting in formulating preventive maintenance standards and providing feedback on service delivery.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of hand/power tools.
  • Working knowledge of precision alignment.

  • Working knowledge of welding.
  • Working knowledge of blueprint reading.
  • Working knowledge of mathematics.
  • Working knowledge of Preventive/Predictive Maintenance.
  • Ability to use hand tools on a daily basis such as power tools (hand grinders, saws, impact wrenches, drill press, and hydraulic pullers), and rigging equipment.
  • Ability to operate and have knowledge of simple and complex heavy industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, basket trucks, and skid loaders.
  • Ability to work from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc., utilizing fall protection equipment.
  • Flexibility to work all shifts including holidays and weekends as demanded by the job.
  • Meet physical requirements of the job.
  • 0-5 years of mechanical experience and/or 1-2 years of education in industrial maintenance technologies preferred.
  • Ability to observe details at close range.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to quickly grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Substantial lifting (up to 50 pounds) is required.
  • Ability to move for extended or continuous periods of time.
  • Ability to ascend and descend staircases, ladders, and/or step stools.
  • Ability to operate applicable hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts or other vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Ability to wear a respirator while performing job duties.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on pumps, conveying systems, piping, heat exchangers, power transmissions, and other power-driven rotating equipment.
  • Ensure repairs and preventive maintenance are performed in conformance with established standards.
  • Assist in formulating preventive maintenance standards and work procedures.
  • Provide work order feedback on discrepancies noted in service delivery.
  • Use hand and power tools, precision alignment, rigging, pipefitting, welding, and blueprint reading.
  • Perform welding and use a cutting torch as required.
  • Operate and have knowledge of heavy industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, basket trucks, and skid loaders.
  • Work from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc., utilizing fall protection equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all company/customer regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Achieve performance expectations set forth as part of performance appraisals, including employee development planning.
  • Communicate with team members to assist in the development of short- and long-range planning.
  • Maintain personal tools required for the job, including an up-to-date documented personal tool list.
  • Meet physical requirements of the job.
  • Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Complete accurate and timely administrative duties, including time accounting and work order completion.
