About The Position

Workforce Solutions is partnering with a family-owned manufacturing company seeking a Design Engineer for its Madison, Wisconsin location. The role involves taking designs from concept through production, with work that translates into finished products used in retail environments. The designer will own the full design lifecycle—from initial concept through modeling, documentation, and production handoff—and work collaboratively in a hands-on environment with minimal oversight.

Requirements

Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings and bills of materials.
Ability to work independently and manage projects.
Strong organizational and file management skills.
Solid communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts.
Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing, design, or fabrication environment is preferred.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Blender or other 3D modeling tools.
ERP system experience, such as Odoo.
Recent technical graduates with strong portfolios are encouraged to apply.
Hands-on fabrication or shop experience.

Responsibilities

Translate customer needs into design concepts, from initial sketches to detailed models.
Create 3D models, technical drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) for production.
Manage design projects, including file organization, version control, and documentation.
Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
Support process improvements and the adoption of new tools.
Contribute ideas to improve efficiency and team workflows.
