About The Position

This course examines the underlying theories and logics that guide political discourses and actions of Indigenous peoples in Canada and beyond. Topics can include: critique of colonialism from first contact to present day; Indigenous critical theory; identity politics; traditional ecological knowledges; nationalism; resistance and resurgence; decolonization.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Ph.D. coursework in the field of Indigenous Political Theory.
  • Teaching experience in the field.
  • Competence in a second language (active).
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training.
  • Canadian or permanent resident status (priority given).

Nice To Haves

  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience equivalent to the required educational background and/or demonstrated experience.
  • Qualified Indigenous persons, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, women and LGBTQIA2S+ persons are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Indigenous Political Theory (POL3182, Section A00) during the 2026 Fall Semester.
  • Deliver instruction in English.
  • Potentially modify teaching methods due to public health measures or other reasons.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
