URGENTLY HIRING Independent Living Services care assistant (Part Time)
About The Position
We are seeking a patient, dependable, and supportive Independent Living Services (ILS) Instructor to provide afternoon services for an individual with Autism and a Psychiatric Disorder. This role focuses on building independence, improving daily living skills, and increasing meaningful participation in the community. The ideal candidate is encouraging, adaptable, and comfortable providing structured support, reminders, and hands-on guidance when needed. Primary goals of support include improving personal care and hygiene routines, supporting home management and household organization, developing financial literacy and basic budgeting skills, and encouraging community engagement and participation in activities.
Requirements
- Patient, reliable, and supportive communication style
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide structure, encouragement, and hands-on assistance
- Two forms of valid identification
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Live Scan fingerprint clearance
- Current TB test clearance
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting individuals with autism and/or psychiatric disorders
Responsibilities
- Support daily personal hygiene routines and self-care tasks
- Provide reminders, encouragement, and positive reinforcement
- Promote independence while offering assistance as needed
- Assist with maintaining a clean and organized living space
- Help establish and follow simple home management routines
- Break tasks into manageable steps to improve consistency
- Support basic budgeting, money management, and tracking expenses
- Assist with understanding financial concepts using clear, step-by-step instruction
- Adapt teaching methods as needed, including paper-based tools if digital platforms are challenging
- Encourage participation in community activities, events, or appointments
- Assist with planning outings and accessing community resources
- Provide support with scheduling and transportation coordination as appropriate
