Allcare HomecareMission Viejo, CA
Onsite

About The Position

We are seeking a reliable, patient, and attentive Independent Living Services (ILS) Instructor to provide one-on-one afternoon support on Tuesdays for an individual with Mild Intellectual Disability and Epilepsy. Services will focus on increasing independence in daily living skills, community navigation, and household responsibilities while ensuring safety and accessibility. The ideal candidate is adaptable, observant, and comfortable supporting an individual with visual impairment. Primary Goals of Support include improving personal hygiene and self-care routines, supporting safe and confident community navigation, assisting with household chores and organization, and developing meal preparation and meal planning skills. The individual’s visual impairment may present unique challenges that staff must be prepared to address, including: Navigation & Safety (additional guidance may be required to safely navigate environments; staff may need to provide orientation support, mobility assistance, or introduce adaptive strategies or technology such as tactile organization systems or GPS tools designed for visually impaired individuals). Communication & Accessibility (tasks involving written or visual information may require adaptation; staff may assist with reading mail, organizing household items, or supporting the use of voice-activated or accessibility-focused technology). Supporting these needs may require additional training or preparation to ensure effective, safe, and respectful services. The individual’s location may present logistical considerations, including: Limited Staff Availability (living in a remote or underserved area may reduce the pool of available and qualified staff, impacting consistency of services). Transportation Barriers (staff may experience commuting challenges due to limited public transportation options, heavy traffic, or difficult accessibility to the home).
