About The Position

The In Vivo Biologist II is responsible for supporting multiple animal studies including but not limited to in-vivo animal handling skills, take down, tissue collection, and dosing. This role requires the ability to perform testing independently and with limited to no supervision, prepare equipment for testing, report issues, maintain lab supplies and cleanliness, prepare stock solutions, and stay updated on current methods. The position also involves basic data analysis and assisting with training.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in dosing and handling mice and rats.
  • Able to collect animal plasma, cerebral spinal fluid, and tissues.
  • Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting, with colleagues and clients.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or closely related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with molecular biology techniques.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.

Responsibilities

  • Assist team members with executing high-quality in vivo studies and record down dosing times, dosing volume, bleeding times, body weights, food consumption and unscheduled events.
  • Randomize, blind, formulate, and dose test compounds to study animals using methodologies such as PO, subcutaneous (SC), intramuscular (IM), intravenous (IV), and intraperitoneal (IP).
  • Deliver high-quality tissue samples, including plasma, cerebral spinal fluid, and organs such as dorsal root ganglion, brain, and other central nervous system structures.
  • Process, label, and deliver samples for analysis internally and externally.
  • Conduct or assist in conducting in vivo behavioral studies.
  • Accurately report and record test data in an electronic or handwritten notebook in a timely manner.
  • Perform testing independently and with limited to no supervision.
  • Prepare a variety of equipment for testing using prescribed standards / specifications.
  • Report safety, instrument, and technical issues to the appropriate contacts.
  • Maintain supplies, lab cleanliness, and analytical instrumentation, as required.
  • Prepare stock solutions, and keeping shelves and reagent stocked.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current methods and products to be tested.
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform basic data analysis as assigned.
  • Assist with training.
