In-Store Shopping Clerk
About The Position
The In-Store Shopping Clerk works in-store to shop and fulfill customers’ online orders using a mobile device equipped with the Instacart Shopper App. The role provides customer service by selecting fresh, high-quality products, suggesting substitutions for out-of-stock items, communicating order changes, and processing transactions through the store’s POS system. The clerk also serves as an online ambassador, answering questions about order delivery, the Instacart platform, and the benefits of the service. The position may assist with stocking shelves, filling frozen food bins, and maintaining store cleanliness and presentation.
Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude when interacting with customers.
- Have good communication skills.
- Be able to take direction and participate in a team environment.
- Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
- Be able to stand, walk, and bend throughout the entire workday.
- Be able to maneuver a utility cart holding 20 pounds, requiring a force of up to 35 pounds, for up to two hours and a distance of up to 20 feet.
- Be able to walk up to 3 miles during an 8-hour shift.
Responsibilities
- Shop and fulfill customers’ online orders using a mobile device equipped with the Instacart Shopper App.
- Provide customer service by selecting quality, fresh products and substituting potential out-of-stock items.
- Communicate necessary changes to orders.
- Process order transactions using the in-store POS system.
- Answer questions about order delivery, the Instacart platform, and the benefits of using the service.
- Assist in other store areas as needed, including stocking shelves, filling frozen food bins, and maintaining store cleanliness and presentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
