About The Position

Braintrust Tutors is seeking dedicated individuals to join their mission of accelerating learning for students in need. As a Math Tutor, you will work with students to enhance their mathematical reasoning, number sense, and problem-solving abilities. You will deliver engaging and consistent lessons using Braintrust Tutors' curriculum and materials, aiming to build students' foundational math skills and confidence. While the priority is to match tutors with in-person engagements, opportunities for online roles may be available to supplement schedules. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and engagements are assigned after successful completion of onboarding requirements. This is a part-time contractor 1099 role with typical schedules aligning with school-day hours, 3-4 days per week, with 30-45 minute sessions, 3-5 sessions per day, for 12-14 week periods during the Fall and Spring semesters. The pay rate is $60/hour, prorated by session. Applicants must be available for the entire schedule of their assigned engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Active expired teaching license or at least 5 years of experience working with K-8 students in an educational environment
  • Knowledge of math instruction that builds number sense, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills, with a scope and sequence ranging from counting to multi-digit arithmetic, including decimals and fractions.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Comfort collaborating with teachers and staff
  • Punctuality, professionalism, and reliability for all scheduled sessions
  • Reliable transportation and/or appropriate technology for instruction
  • A laptop with Windows or macOS that uses either Chrome/Edge Chrome 115+ (recommended), Firefox 115+ or Safari 16+. iPads are also acceptable with iOS 17 or greater with an external keyboard
  • Passion for literacy and closing opportunity gaps

Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group or 1:1 math tutoring to students developing literacy skills
  • Implement Braintrust Tutors intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance
  • Collaborate with the Braintrust Tutors Operations team and school staff to support student growth
  • Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes focus and confidence
  • Follow school-site procedures and policies while maintaining a professional and dependable presence
  • Use the provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction
  • Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activities
