About The Position

Braintrust Tutors is a mission-driven organization committed to accelerating learning for students who need it most. They partner with districts across the country to deliver high-impact, Science-of-Reading aligned literacy and math interventions. Tutors are certified, trained educators who believe in evidence-based instruction and personalized support. As a Math Tutor, you will work with students to strengthen their mathematical reasoning, number sense, and problem-solving strategies. You will provide engaging, consistent lessons using Braintrust Tutors' curriculum and materials, helping students build foundational math skills and confidence. This is primarily an in-person role, but online roles may be available to supplement schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Active expired teaching license or at least 5 years of experience working with K-8 students in an educational environment
  • Knowledge of math instruction that builds number sense, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills, with a scope and sequence ranging from counting to multi-digit arithmetic, including decimals and fractions.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Comfort collaborating with teachers and staff
  • Punctuality, professionalism, and reliability for all scheduled sessions
  • Reliable transportation and/or appropriate technology for instruction
  • A laptop with Windows or macOS that uses either Chrome/Edge Chrome 115+ (recommended), Firefox 115+ or Safari 16+. iPads are also acceptable with iOS 17 or greater with an external keyboard
  • Passion for literacy and closing opportunity gaps
  • Availability for the entire schedule of the engagement (12-14 weeks, Fall or Spring semester, school-day hours, 3/4 days per week, 30/45 minute sessions, 3-5 sessions/day)

Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group or 1:1 math tutoring to students developing literacy skills
  • Implement Braintrust Tutors intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance
  • Collaborate with the Braintrust Tutors Operations team and school staff to support student growth
  • Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes focus and confidence
  • Follow school-site procedures and policies while maintaining a professional and dependable presence
  • Use the provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction
  • Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activities
