About The Position

Visiting Angels of San Angelo is hiring caregivers to serve clients throughout the Concho Valley area. The In Home Patient Care Assistant (PCA) supports clients’ wellness and quality of life in accordance with individualized care plans. Duties may include personal care and hygiene, light exercise and walks, meal planning and preparation, light housekeeping, companionship, medication reminders, mobility assistance, and accompanying and supervising clients on shopping trips, appointments, and errands. The PCA reports health changes or unusual incidents and responds responsibly to emergencies. Advanced training opportunities may be available in dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
First Aid and emergency-response training; training is provided if needed.
Excellent time-management skills and ability to handle multiple duties at once.
Reliable transportation to and from client homes at scheduled times.
Physical endurance for tasks such as carrying groceries and physically supporting a client.
Comfort performing housekeeping and cooking duties while following applicable dietary constraints.
Willingness and ability to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards, including a background check.
Compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten clients’ days.

Nice To Haves

Interest in broadening caregiving skills through advanced training in dementia care and/or Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Assist clients with light physical exercise or walks.
Plan and prepare meals with clients while following applicable dietary constraints.
Perform light housekeeping duties.
Report changes in clients’ health or unusual incidents.
Provide pleasant, supportive companionship.
Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
Accompany and supervise clients during shopping trips, appointments, and errands.
Remind clients to take prescription medications appropriately.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation at home and during appointments or errands.
