About The Position
Visiting Angels of Carmel is hiring caregivers to serve clients throughout Hamilton County, including Zionsville, Indianapolis, Carmel, Noblesville, Westville, and Fishers. The In Home Patient Care Assistant - PCA helps enrich clients’ quality of life and support their wellness in accordance with their custom care plans. The role includes personal care, companionship, assistance with daily activities, and responding to emergencies. Caregivers may pursue advanced training in areas such as dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Training in first aid and emergency response; training is provided if needed.
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to juggle multiple duties.
- Reliable transportation to and from client homes at scheduled times.
- Physical endurance for tasks such as carrying groceries and physically supporting a client.
- Comfort performing housekeeping and cooking duties while adhering to applicable dietary constraints.
- Willingness and ability to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards, such as background checks.
- Compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten each client’s day.

- Interest in broadening caregiving skills through advanced training in dementia care and/or Alzheimer’s care.
Responsibilities
- Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
- Assist clients with light physical exercise or walks.
- Plan and prepare meals with clients.
- Handle light housekeeping duties.
- Report health changes or unusual incidents.
- Provide pleasant, supportive companionship.
- Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
- Accompany and supervise clients during shopping trips.
- Remind clients to take prescription medications appropriately.
- Assist with mobility and ambulation at home and during appointments or errands.
