About The Position

Visiting Angels of Longview is hiring caregivers to serve clients throughout the East Texas area, including Longview, Hallsville, Kilgore, Marshall, Gladewater, Carthage, Henderson, and other communities. Caregivers support clients’ quality of life and wellness according to their custom care plans. The role may involve personal care and hygiene, light exercise and walks, meal planning and preparation, light housekeeping, companionship, medication reminders, mobility assistance, transportation and accompaniment during appointments or errands, and responding to emergencies. Caregivers report health changes or unusual incidents. Advanced training opportunities in dementia care and/or Alzheimer’s care are available for caregivers who want to broaden their skills.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Training in First Aid and emergency response; training is provided if needed.
Excellent time-management skills and ability to manage multiple duties.
Reliable transportation to and from client homes at scheduled care times.
Physical endurance for tasks such as carrying groceries and physically supporting a client.
Comfort performing housekeeping and cooking duties while adhering to applicable dietary constraints.
Ability and willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards, including a background check.
Compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten each client's day.

Interest in broadening caregiving skills through advanced training in dementia care and/or Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Assist clients with light physical exercise or walks.
Plan and prepare meals with clients, while observing applicable dietary constraints.
Perform light housekeeping duties.
Report health changes or unusual incidents.
Provide pleasant, supportive companionship.
Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
Accompany and supervise clients during shopping trips.
Remind clients to take prescription medications appropriately.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation at home and during appointments or errands.
Transport clients using a reliable personal vehicle.
