About The Position
Visiting Angels Columbia is seeking compassionate In Home Caregiver - Housekeepers to support senior adults and others in need in Columbia and surrounding communities. Caregivers provide companionship and a range of in-home assistance, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care, mobility assistance, and transportation. The position offers opportunities for advanced training in areas such as dementia care and Alzheimer’s care.
Requirements
- Passion for serving others and being a caregiver.
- Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
- Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
- Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
- Respectful and compassionate demeanor.
- Good time management skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ethics.
- Physical endurance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Help clients take prescribed medication.
- Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home and outside, including for appointments and walks.
- Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
- Help clients with routine exercises.
- Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
- Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping.
- Perform light housekeeping duties that clients cannot complete on their own.
- Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
- Report unusual incidents.
- Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
