Implementation Lead / Program Manager

Uncountable•San Francisco, NY

About The Position

Uncountable is hiring an Implementation Program Manager to own customer implementations from scoping through go-live. The role is the central project-management lead for each account, responsible for delivering the agreed scope on time and within the planned hours while coordinating customers and Uncountable’s delivery team. Account Managers own customer relationships, adoption, and growth; Scientific Implementation Managers own technical design; and Scientific Implementation team members execute the build, using AI agents for repetitive configuration and setup. The position combines project-management discipline with enough scientific and platform knowledge to scope laboratory workflows, assess designs, and earn the trust of researchers. The Implementation Program Manager leads multiple enterprise accounts, manages plans, timelines, status, stage gates, sign-offs, integrations, onsite workshops, and cross-team delivery. The role also partners with Account Managers on future phases and ensures a clear handoff to Account Management and Customer Success at go-live. During the first 90 days, the new hire will learn the platform and delivery approach, shadow implementations, take over project management for one or two live implementations, and then own a new implementation end to end. They are also expected to contribute an improvement to implementation scoping, estimation, or reporting.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years leading software implementations or digital lab rollouts, at a vendor or consultancy or as an internal project lead for an ELN, LIMS, or similar R&D platform.
  • End-to-end ownership of the plan, stakeholders, and outcome on at least some implementations.
  • Background in chemistry, materials science, biology, chemical engineering, or a related field sufficient to scope R&D workflows and work effectively with PhD-level researchers.
  • Ability to manage status, risks, scope, and sign-offs consistently across several concurrent projects.
  • Sound judgment and ownership, including willingness to challenge unrealistic timelines, scope, or designs and take responsibility for results.
  • Existing use of AI tools and willingness to drive adoption of AI agents in implementation work.
  • Clear, concise writing and presentation skills for audiences ranging from bench scientists to R&D directors and IT leaders.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving company where processes are still being developed, with willingness to help build them.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in a scientific or engineering field.
  • Experience implementing or rolling out ELN, LIMS, PLM, or other R&D data platforms, on the vendor side or as the customer’s project lead.
  • Experience leading digital initiatives across multiple sites or regions, including onsite workshops with scientific teams.
  • Experience scoping integrations with ERP or other enterprise systems and working with IT organizations.
  • Experience working with or managing implementation partners and system integrators.
  • Experience in a regulated or GxP-adjacent environment.
  • A second language used by customers, such as German, French, or Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer scoping to define requirements, sites, teams, workflows, phase boundaries, and a realistic first go-live.
  • Turn scoping outcomes into phased plans with timelines, deliverables, and executable post-sales commitments.
  • Own on-time delivery for each implementation phase and track hours against the agreed scope.
  • Run customer and internal status meetings and maintain clear written status for Account Managers and leadership.
  • Manage stage gates and customer sign-offs so each phase is formally completed before the next begins.
  • Plan and run onsite workshops, including agendas, logistics, and attendee coordination.
  • Identify scope creep and overruns early and raise justified change requests or resourcing requests.
  • Scope integration requirements with customer IT and business teams and write actionable tickets for Integration Engineering.
  • Coordinate enterprise integrations required for go-live, including data transfers to ERP or other enterprise systems.
  • Coordinate implementation partners and system integrators and ensure delivery meets Uncountable’s standards.
  • Manage the work of Scientific Implementation Managers and Associates on assigned accounts, including ownership and deadlines.
  • Encourage the use of AI agents for configuration and setup while ensuring team members focus on work requiring judgment.
  • Share lessons across accounts to improve future scoping, estimates, and implementation playbooks.
  • Keep Account Managers informed about progress, risks, and customer sentiment, and escalate issues requiring an executive conversation.
  • Work with Account Managers to sequence future implementation phases.
  • Hand off completed implementations to Account Management and Customer Success with a clear account of delivery and next steps.
