Implementation Lead / Program Manager

Uncountable Inc.
•$110,000 - $140,000

About The Position

As an Implementation Program Manager, you own customer implementations from scoping through go-live, across every phase. You provide customer R&D leadership with the plan, timeline, and status, while directing Uncountable’s delivery team. The role sits at the center of a defined implementation team: Account Managers own the customer relationship, adoption, and growth; Scientific Implementation Managers own technical design; and Scientific Implementation team members execute the build, using AI agents for repetitive configuration and setup. You own project management and ensure the team delivers what was scoped, on time and within hours. This is not a pure project management role. You need scientific and platform knowledge to scope real laboratory workflows, challenge designs that will not work, and earn the trust of PhD-level researchers. You also need the operating discipline to manage status, stage gates, and sign-offs across multiple enterprise accounts. The role is suited to someone who has led scientific software rollouts or managed implementations as a consultant and wants to work with a modern, AI-first delivery team. During the first 90 days, you will learn the platform and implementation approach, shadow implementations at different stages, and build relationships with Account Managers, Solution Architects, and Scientific Implementers. You will then take over project management for live implementations and, by month three, own a new implementation end to end, leading scoping, setting the phased plan and timeline, staffing the team with your manager, and driving toward the first go-live. You will also contribute an improvement to implementation scoping, estimation, or reporting.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years leading software implementations or digital lab rollouts for external clients at a vendor or consultancy, or internally as the project lead for an ELN, LIMS, or similar platform.
  • Experience owning the plan, stakeholders, and outcome end to end for at least some implementations.
  • Background in chemistry, materials science, biology, chemical engineering, or a related field, with enough knowledge to scope R&D workflows and work credibly with PhD-level researchers.
  • Ability to manage status, risks, scope, and sign-offs across several concurrent projects without needing reminders.
  • Ability to challenge unrealistic timelines, scope, or designs with customers and senior colleagues, and take responsibility for outcomes.
  • Use of AI tools in one’s own work and willingness to drive adoption of AI agents on assigned accounts.
  • Clear, concise writing and presentation skills for audiences ranging from bench scientists to R&D directors and IT leaders.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving company where processes are still being built, and contributing to building them.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in a scientific or engineering field.
  • Experience implementing or rolling out ELN, LIMS, PLM, or other R&D data platforms, either on the vendor side or as the customer’s project lead.
  • Experience leading digital initiatives across multiple sites or regions, including onsite workshops with scientific teams.
  • Experience scoping integrations with ERP or other enterprise systems and working with IT organizations.
  • Experience working with or managing implementation partners and system integrators.
  • Experience in a regulated or GxP-adjacent environment.
  • A second language used by customers, such as German, French, or Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer scoping to define requirements, sites, teams, workflows, phase boundaries, and realistic first go-live scope.
  • Translate scoping into phased plans with timelines, deliverables, and post-sales commitments the delivery team can execute.
  • Own on-time go-live for each phase and track hours against the agreed scope.
  • Run customer and internal status meetings and maintain clear written status updates for Account Managers and leadership.
  • Manage stage gates and customer sign-offs so each phase closes before the next begins.
  • Plan and run onsite meetings and workshops, including agendas, logistics, and attendance.
  • Identify scope creep and overruns early and raise change requests or resourcing needs with clear justification.
  • Scope integration requirements with customer IT and business teams and write actionable tickets for Integration Engineering.
  • Coordinate enterprise integrations required for go-live, such as data transfers to ERP or other enterprise systems.
  • Work with customer implementation partners and system integrators and ensure delivery meets Uncountable’s standards.
  • Direct the work of Scientific Implementation Managers and Associates on assigned accounts, clarifying responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Drive adoption of AI agents for configuration and setup, keeping team members focused on work requiring judgment.
  • Share lessons across accounts to improve scoping, estimates, and implementation playbooks.
  • Keep the Account Manager informed about progress, risks, and customer sentiment, and escalate issues requiring executive involvement.
  • Coordinate with the Account Manager on sequencing future implementation phases.
  • Hand off to the Account Manager and Customer Success at go-live with a clear account of delivered work and next steps.
  • Contribute an improvement to implementation scoping, estimation, or reporting.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with performance bonus and meaningful equity.
  • Health and dental insurance.
  • 401(k) with employer contribution for US locations.
  • Direct exposure to company leadership on a small, high-caliber team.
  • Opportunity to shape the implementation playbook and influence scoping, pricing, staffing, and product development.
  • Room to grow toward leading a group of Implementation Program Managers or a larger part of the delivery organization.
