Imaging Technologist Assistant - PRN
About The Position
The Imaging Technologist Assistant assists an Imaging Technologist with x-rays, portable imaging, C-Arm work, CT, MRI, and ultrasound examinations under the technologist’s direct clinical supervision and as qualified. Work is performed according to physician orders to provide reliable and accurate information used in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions, within the standards of practice. The assistant’s duties are limited by their level of learning; they must not radiate a patient in this role until fully licensed. The position includes completing procedure histories, cleaning and visually inspecting imaging equipment for safety, safely transporting patients with assisting devices as needed, maintaining orderly work areas, and applying knowledge of sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment, and procedures. The assistant may be reassigned to other units and may perform other duties within the scope of the job and organization. The employee must complete required education and training, protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations, follow safety and health requirements and PPE protocols, promptly report safety incidents and concerns through SafetyZone, and follow Hillsboro Health Standards of Behavior. The position also requires training or meeting attendance under Hillsboro Health’s Corporate Compliance Plan and Code of Conduct, and understanding when to contact the Corporate Compliance Officer about possible fraud or abuse concerns.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a two-year certified Radiology Technologist School Program and be in the second year of the program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, or the employee must be willing to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
- Must meet the position’s physical demands, including vision, hearing, repetitive motion, and environmental requirements; reasonable accommodation may be made as described in the posting.
Responsibilities
- Assist Imaging Technologists with x-rays, portable imaging, C-Arm work, CT, MRI, and ultrasound examinations under direct clinical supervision and as qualified.
- Perform imaging duties in accordance with the degree of learning; do not radiate patients while working in this role until fully licensed.
- Complete procedure histories for patient exams.
- Clean and visually inspect imaging equipment for safety.
- Safely transport patients using assisting devices as needed.
- Maintain orderly assigned work areas.
- Use knowledge of sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment, and procedures.
- Accept reassignment to other units as necessary.
- Complete and maintain required education and training.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Follow lawful safety and health requirements, regulations, and required PPE protocols.
- Promptly report safety issues, work-related injuries or illnesses, and near misses in SafetyZone.
- Follow Hillsboro Health Standards of Behavior.
- Attend required compliance training or meetings and understand responsibilities under the Corporate Compliance Plan and Code of Conduct, including when to contact the Corporate Compliance Officer about fraud or abuse concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the job and organization.
