Imaging Assistant I
About The Position
Southcoast Health is seeking an Imaging Assistant I at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Radiology Clinical Services or designee, this role provides patient care and support for imaging procedures. The schedule is 32 flex 40 hours, with day/evening shifts and weekend and holiday rotation. The primary schedule is 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with rotation to 3:00–11:30 p.m. or 11:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. The position supports patients before and during exams, handles imaging-related paperwork and schedules, helps retrieve outside images, maintains supply inventory, and assists with special projects. The stated pay range is USD $16.27–$26.28 per hour, with the rate determined based on experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus additional specialized courses or training.
- Computer skills, including knowledge of hospital departmental computer systems.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of office equipment and basic knowledge of patient care equipment.
- CPR certification required within three months.
- Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or be exempt for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying the choice to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

- One year of related work experience in a similar position is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care, including transporting patients and obtaining medical histories.
- Prepare patients for exams and assist them on and off the imaging table.
- Perform assigned modality-specific duties.
- Assist with patient exams and explain procedure delays to patients.
- Process requisitions and paperwork, review schedules, and assist with retrieving outside images.
- Control inventory and maintain adequate supply levels.
- Assist with assigned special projects, such as Quality Assurance and Education.
