About The Position

Southcoast Health is seeking an Imaging Assistant I at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Radiology Clinical Services or designee, the role provides patient care and support for imaging procedures. The schedule is 32 flex 40 hours, with day/evening shifts, weekend and holiday rotation, and primarily 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; shifts may rotate to 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. or 11:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. The position also supports exam administration and department operations through paperwork processing, schedule review, outside-image retrieval, inventory control, and assigned special projects. The pay range is $16.27–$26.28 per hour, based on experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, plus additional specialized courses or training.
Computer skills, including knowledge of hospital departmental computer systems.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of office equipment and basic knowledge of patient care equipment.
CPR certification required within three months.
Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or obtain an exemption for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement after hire.

One year of related work experience in a similar position is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care, including transporting patients, obtaining medical histories, preparing patients for exams, and assisting patients on and off the imaging table.
Perform modality-specific duties as assigned.
Assist with patient exams and explain delays in procedures.
Process requisitions and paperwork, review schedules, and assist with retrieval of outside images.
Control inventory and maintain adequate levels of supplies.
Assist with special projects, such as Quality Assurance and Education, as assigned.
