This position is responsible for organizing and managing the IEP process and documentation in assigned schools. The IEP Facilitator chairs IEP Team meetings, accepts referrals, assists in gathering and organizing pertinent information, invites appropriate participants, and prepares and distributes agendas. This role also monitors and updates referrals, assessments, and other individual Special Education records, ensuring knowledge of IEP assessment timelines. The IEP Facilitator acts as a liaison for special education discipline-related problems, assists in identifying student needs, and supports regular education teachers in the referral process. They interpret special education policy to staff and parents, encourage a healthy school atmosphere, and monitor IEPs for compliance. This role reports to the Director for Compliance and is supported by the Director of Special Education. Additionally, the IEP Facilitator provides guidance on IDEA, COMAR, and MSDE policy, offers professional development for school teams, participates in professional learning, reviews records for inter-district communication, and maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
