This position is responsible for organizing and managing the IEP process and documentation in assigned schools. The IEP Facilitator chairs IEP Team meetings, accepts referrals, and assists in gathering and organizing pertinent information. They also invite appropriate participants, prepare and distribute agendas, and monitor and update referrals, assessments, and other individual Special Education records. The role involves acting as a liaison for special education discipline-related problems, identifying special needs of students, and assisting regular education teachers in the referral process. The IEP Facilitator interprets special education policy, encourages a healthy school atmosphere, monitors IEPs for compliance, and reports to the Director for Compliance, supported by the Director of Special Education. Additionally, they provide guidance on IDEA, COMAR, and MSDE policy, offer professional development, participate in professional learning, review records from other school districts, and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
