About The Position

To identify and assess child and family needs and evaluate, coordinate and ensure necessary services are provided; provide services to clients; assist and counsel individuals and families by using such activities as delineating alternatives, helping to articulate goals and providing needed information.

  • Will have successfully demonstrated the ability to use creative thinking to solve complex problems.
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Certified Child Welfare professional as issued by Florida Certification Board
  • Possess a current Background Clearance Screening Letter as required by DCF; and successfully complete the background screening requirements for Community Partnership for Children.
  • If local travel is required, a Valid Florida driver’s license and documentation of current automobile insurance, with $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability limit, is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain contact with Case Managers from out-of-state/out-of-county child welfare agencies with regards to clients placed within Volusia and Flagler Counties
  • Document all efforts and responsibilities related to the case in the Florida Safe Families Network system (FSFN).
  • Conduct home study assessments on incoming requests from other counties and out of state, non-jurisdictional cases on an as needed basis.
  • Conduct home visits, a minimum of every 30 days, with clients placed from out-of-state/out-of-county child welfare agencies.
  • Complete all related court reports within mandated time frames, if applicable.
  • Provide quarterly reports to primary workers on cases open to the Interstate Compact Placement of Children (ICPC).
  • Provide monthly contact and FSFN documentation with parents for any case plan assistance cases from out of county.
  • Provide counseling services to individuals, families and/or groups.
  • Provide case management services (information, plan referrals and linkages).
  • Develop and maintain service documentation according to working agreement between counties and ICPC compact and the agency’s standards.
  • Testify in court as necessary.
  • Coordinate services with other professionals and paraprofessionals.
  • Arrange for transportation of clients to appointments, community agencies, visitations, etc., as needed.
  • Participate in the quality improvement process.
  • Provide and/or refer families to services, understand and use information from service providers, psychological reports and psychosocial evaluations.
  • Conduct child safety assessments.
  • Arrange with the out-of-county/out-of-state agencies for emergency placement for children at risk.
  • Explain rights and responsibilities to children and family members.
  • Provide support to foster homes, non-relative, adoptive and relative placements within the Volusia/Flagler counties.
  • Respond to on-call situations as assigned on the on-call calendar and by the on-call supervisor.
