About The Position

The Ice Skating Coordinator is responsible for planning and leading beginner youth ice skating lessons at outdoor rinks. This is a seasonal position mainly during the month of January with onboarding and training in December. Approximately 4-8 hours a week, flexible schedule. Position may be filled before closing date.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
At least two years of college education in recreation or education.
At least one year of experience leading programs for elementary or middle school aged children.
First Aid/CPR certification within two months of hire.

Responsibilities

Attending all trainings, workshops, and staff meetings.
Working cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, participants, and parents.
Ensuring safety precautions are taken in all activities, and following proper emergency procedures when needed.
Ensuring the activity site is safe and appropriate for the activities being taught.
Teaching skills and activities giving careful consideration to the specific needs and skill levels of the participant.
Preparing weekly lesson plans and information material related to the programs.
Assisting in the implementation and promotion of special events and trips.
Carrying out suggested lesson plans and following a logical, sequential order of skill instruction.
Supervising, assigning tasks, and assisting in training of staff.
Welcoming, including, and guiding volunteer staff.
Communicating program needs and requests, including those of program participants or their parents to supervisors.
Communicating with parents regarding program specific concerns and information regarding individual participants.
Assisting in the evaluation of the program and staff.
Performing all other duties as assigned.
