About The Position

The Department of Recreation and Youth Development is seeking an Ice Rink Maintenance Worker to operate and maintain ice resurfacing equipment, including the ice resurfacing machine, and other building equipment. The role also involves routine facility cleaning and repair, maintaining operating records, and performing other related duties as required. Duties and responsibilities may change with or without notice.

Requirements

• One year of experience operating ice resurfacing equipment and maintaining an ice arena.
• Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• Knowledge of procedures for operating ice resurfacing machinery and equipment.
• Knowledge of ice requirements for varied types of ice-skating events.
• Ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work harmoniously with associates and people using the ice rink.
• Ability to operate and maintain ice resurfacing machinery and equipment.
• Ability to perform a variety of minor building maintenance and repair tasks.
• Must eventually pass and qualify for the applicable Civil Service title.
• Subject to residency requirements set forth by NJ First Act.

Responsibilities

• Operate the ice resurfacing machine to maintain the skating surface in proper condition.
• Operate and maintain related mechanical equipment and vehicles.
• Maintain accurate records of ice resurfacing equipment operation, ice conditions, and other mechanical equipment used in the building.
• Perform a variety of cleaning tasks throughout the building.
• Mop, scrub, and wax floors.
• Wash and clean windows.
• Dust and clean desks, tables, chairs, and other furniture.
• Clean sinks, urinals, and toilets, and polish metal fixtures and furnishings.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, plastering, and electrical work.
• Learn to use electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
• Perform other related duties as required.
