About The Position

The Town of Belmont is hiring a part-time Ice Rink Attendant/Zamboni Driver for the Belmont Sports Complex. The role is responsible for resurfacing ice according to rental requirements and performing general custodial and maintenance duties needed for daily operations and special events. Duties include setting up and taking down events; cleaning locker rooms, restrooms, the lobby, hallways, and bathrooms; and sweeping and mopping. Work hours and assignments may vary and include some weekend shifts. The attendant ensures ice rental schedules are followed and daily facility needs are completed, keeps rentals on time, enforces security and safety policies, and ensures equipment is provided and returned to its proper storage space. The role operates the Zamboni, edger, and other ice arena equipment to maintain a high-quality ice surface. It also requires keeping doorways and walkways clear of ice, snow, and equipment; reporting accidents, emergencies, scheduling problems, and building repair or maintenance needs to the rink Manager; and exercising customer service, professionalism, and appropriate safety precautions. Similar or related work may be required as circumstances dictate.

Requirements

Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License with a good driving record.
At least 2 years of experience working in an ice rink and operating equipment.
Excellent customer service, planning, and organizational skills.
Good mechanical and manual trade skills.

Nice To Haves

OSHA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Resurface the ice according to rental requirements.
Perform custodial and maintenance duties, including cleaning bathrooms, locker rooms, restrooms, the lobby, hallways, and other areas; sweeping and mopping; and completing other assigned tasks.
Set up and tear down for special events.
Ensure rental schedules are followed, rentals remain on time, and daily facility needs are completed.
Enforce security and safety policies.
Provide equipment for use and ensure it is returned to the proper storage space.
Operate the Zamboni, edger, and other equipment used for ice arena operations to maintain a high-quality ice surface.
Report accidents, emergencies, scheduling problems, and building repair or maintenance needs to the rink Manager.
Keep doorways and walkways clear of ice, snow, and equipment.
Provide professional customer service when handling complaints or enforcing Arena Rules.
Follow safety precautions, including using appropriate personal protective equipment, machine guards, and safe work procedures.
Perform similar or related work as required or as situations dictate.
