About The Position

Audubon Nature Institute comprises Audubon Park, Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium, Audubon Insectarium, Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center, Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species, Woldenberg Riverfront Park, and Audubon Wilderness Park. Our Information Technology team supports a diverse and complex environment that includes guest-facing systems, business applications, office technology, networked devices, ticketing systems, servers, security platforms, and multi-site operations. This position plays an important role in helping staff work efficiently, supporting business systems, improving documentation, assisting with reporting needs, and providing reliable technical support across Audubon facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in IT support, technical support, business application support, or a similar technology role.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for Windows computers, printers, peripherals, user applications, and common connectivity issues.
  • Experience using a ticketing system to document, track, and resolve support requests.
  • Basic understanding of business applications, user permissions, and application support workflows.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL queries, reporting tools, or a strong willingness and ability to learn SQL/reporting tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with users, vendors, and other IT team members.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, follow through on assigned tasks, and identify areas where processes can be improved.
  • Ability to support multiple facilities and respond to changing operational priorities.
  • Required to work onsite and maintain reliable transportation to and from the job site and between Audubon facilities as needed.
  • Required to work some weekends on a rotating schedule based on operational needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting ticketing, admissions, POS, sales, inventory, finance, or guest-facing business systems.
  • Experience writing or modifying basic SQL queries, including SELECT statements, filters, joins, and date-based reporting.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Power BI, or similar reporting tools.
  • Experience working with software vendors to troubleshoot application or database-related issues.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Group Policy, or user account administration.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, antivirus tools, endpoint protection, or safe software review.
  • Basic network troubleshooting knowledge, including IP addresses, DNS, DHCP, VLAN awareness, and connectivity testing.
  • Basic experience with cabling, cable tracing, labeling, crimping ends, patch panels, switches, access points, cameras, or AV equipment.
  • Experience with projectors, conference room technology, digital signage, or audio/video troubleshooting.
  • A+, Network+, Microsoft, SQL, or similar certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with support and troubleshooting for sales, ticketing, admissions, and other business applications used throughout Audubon Nature Institute.
  • Run existing reports, assist with basic SQL queries, help validate report data, and support report-writing efforts for integrated I.T. systems and related vendor platforms.
  • Respond promptly to assigned IT support requests and provide timely updates through the ticketing system.
  • Diagnose and resolve workstation, printer, application, connectivity, and user access issues.
  • Assist with sales/ticketing system issues, including user problems, reporting issues, data questions, permissions, and vendor support requests.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for recurring issues, procedures, application support steps, and common troubleshooting processes.
  • Work with software and hardware vendors to report issues, provide technical details, follow up on open cases, and document resolutions.
  • Assist with installation, replacement, and troubleshooting of computers, printers, scanners, payment-related peripherals, and other connected devices.
  • Provide basic field support across Audubon facilities, including equipment setup, cable tracing, device labeling, basic AV support, and coordination with vendors or contractors when needed.
  • Participate in assigned IT projects, upgrades, deployments, documentation efforts, and system improvement initiatives.
  • Follow IT security procedures and assist with safe handling of systems, user accounts, data, endpoints, and supported applications.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure issues are routed, escalated, and resolved appropriately.
