Weston & Sampson is seeking a Hydrologist with 0-5 years of experience for their Water discipline in one of their New England offices. The role involves experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, with an ideal focus on urban stormwater. Requirements

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or similar degree is required.
  • Experience with hydrologic (HydroCAD, HEC-HMS) and hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS, SWMM) is required.
  • Experience with GIS analyses and mapping is required.
  • Successful candidates will have 0 to 5 years of experience and have a general familiarity with surface water hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Must have an interest in the evaluation and computer-aided modeling of surface water systems, including watersheds, rivers, and lakes.
  • Must be willing to collaborate remotely with coworkers in other office locations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational/time management skills are required.
  • Some travel will be required to client meetings and project sites within New England.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or similar degree is a plus.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to pass exam within the first six months of employment is preferred.
  • Experience modeling and designing stormwater BMPs is a plus.
  • Experience modeling and designing green infrastructure and LID projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses and computer-aided evaluations of surface water systems, including watersheds, rivers, and lakes.
  • Model and support design of stormwater BMPs, green infrastructure, and LID projects.
  • Prepare Letter of Map Revision applications.
  • Become proficient with software such as HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and PCSWMM.
  • Work independently and effectively communicating results to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Prepare clear and concise written and verbal summaries of technical material for both technical and lay audiences.
  • Conduct field work to gather measurements, survey, and other observations to support surface water model development.
  • Travel to client meetings and project sites within New England and the mid-Atlantic and Carolinas.
