Hydraulic Hose Service & Sales Technician
About The Position
PIRTEK is hiring a Hydraulic Hose Service & Sales Technician to service, assemble, and install hydraulic and industrial hoses for a diverse customer base in varying environmental conditions. The role is based out of a PIRTEK Service & Supply Center and involves working in a purpose-built mobile service unit equipped with tools and machinery for local service work. The work is hands-on and physically demanding, may involve messy substances, and includes on-call hours. Hydraulic and industrial hose experience is not required; training opportunities may be provided at the franchise owner’s discretion, and technicians can access a 24/7 support hotline while troubleshooting in the field. Technicians provide on-site service and sales, build customer relationships, and help meet customer needs by identifying, replacing, and installing hoses. Work conditions vary by service location, including terrain, noise, temperature, and available amenities. Travel for training may be required at no cost to the employee. The franchise is independently owned and operated, and hiring decisions are made by the franchisee.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, and stoop for moderate to extended periods.
- Ability to safely use ladders, step-ups, and stairs.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to regularly use hand tools and specialized equipment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to navigate customer objections, identify needs, and execute sales.
- Self-motivation and a positive attitude when handling difficult jobs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely and lawfully drive a large work van.
- Dedication and grit to perform manual labor and work on-call hours.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in industrial development and construction, automobile or marine mechanics, field mechanics, or a related industry.
- Hydraulic and industrial hose experience; however, this is not required.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to industry and PIRTEK safety standards.
- Carry out service calls and sales visits in the local area.
- Identify faulty hoses or hose assemblies and determine service needs.
- Remove worn or broken hoses, then fabricate and install replacement hoses.
- Clean or contain oil spills and environmental contaminants caused by hose failures or repairs to the customer’s satisfaction and in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Enter service details into the online database to create accurate invoices.
- Develop relationships with new and existing customers.
- Maintain the mobile service unit, tools, and equipment.
- Resolve customer issues on-site and conduct frequent follow-up visits to ensure satisfaction.
- Participate in the rotating on-call schedule.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
