HVAC Technician - Level 1
About The Position
The HVAC Technician 1 delivers portable HVAC equipment to customers, installs rental equipment, and demonstrates its safe use to authorized operators or customers. The role troubleshoots and repairs rental equipment and provides a professional, customer-focused level of service. The technician works primarily in the shop, keeping it organized, clean, and safe; checks in, cleans, tests, and prepares returned equipment for rental; and supports other technicians on larger jobs. The position also includes rotating on-call emergency service response, including evenings and weekends.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in a service-related role interacting with customers.
- Basic math skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record free from points.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Ability to work some after-hours and weekend shifts during peak times.
Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with customers, managers, and sales engineers to schedule deliveries, pickups, and service calls.
- Deliver and install rented HVAC equipment and train authorized operators or customers in its safe use.
- Direct customers to sign appropriate paperwork and track equipment serial numbers.
- Troubleshoot rental equipment operation, function, specifications, capabilities, and controls.
- Operate company vehicles safely and follow company safety policies.
- Clean and test returned equipment to ensure its operation and appearance meet standards.
- Complete paperwork for deliveries, pickups, and service calls.
- Install flexible gas hose for propane and natural gas applications.
- Use proper and safe procedures to check gas connections.
- Work with managers and sales engineers to maintain accurate records and tracking of in-stock and rented equipment.
- Keep the shop organized, clean, and safe; learn to check in, clean, and prepare equipment for rental; and support other technicians on large jobs.
- Respond to emergency service calls on a rotating on-call schedule, including evenings and weekends.
