HVAC Technician 1
About The Position
The HVAC Technician 1 provides professional customer service while delivering, installing, and servicing portable HVAC rental equipment. The role demonstrates safe and effective use, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of company equipment, and trains authorized operators or customers on safe equipment use. Work is primarily in the shop, where the technician helps keep the area organized, clean, and safe; checks in, cleans, and prepares equipment for rental; and supports other technicians on larger jobs. The position also includes rotating on-call emergency service response on evenings and weekends.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in a service-related role interacting with customers.
- Basic math skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record free from points.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Ability to work some after-hours and weekend shifts during peak times.
Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with customers, managers, and sales engineers to schedule deliveries, pickups, and service calls.
- Deliver and install rented HVAC equipment and train authorized operators or customers in its safe use.
- Direct customers to sign appropriate paperwork and track equipment serial numbers.
- Troubleshoot the operation, function, specifications, capabilities, and controls of rental equipment.
- Operate company vehicles safely and follow company safety policies.
- Clean and test returned equipment to ensure it meets operating and appearance standards.
- Complete paperwork for deliveries, pickups, and service calls.
- Install flexible gas hose for propane and natural gas applications.
- Use proper and safe procedures to check gas connections.
- Work with managers and sales engineers to maintain accurate records and tracking of in-stock and rented equipment.
- Participate in rotating on-call emergency service response, including evenings and weekends.
- Help keep the shop organized, clean, and safe; check in, clean, and prepare equipment for rental; and support other technicians on large jobs.
