Requirements

  • Successful completion of the HVAC and Building Automation Technician trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, units, and equipment including one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls.
  • Active motor vehicle license.
  • Must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex repairs on compressors, valves, motors, and mechanical components
  • Construct and install HVAC and refrigeration units using blueprints and diagrams
  • Identify malfunctions by analyzing issues, performing diagnostics, and testing equipment
  • Service and balance air handling units and maintain heating and chilled water systems
  • Follow safety standards when working with ladders, confined spaces, and hazardous materials
  • Document work clearly and communicate with supervisors and staff about equipment needs
