HVAC/R Start-up Technician - Commercial & Industrial
About The Position
HTS Engineering Ltd. is the largest independent commercial HVAC manufacturers’ representative in North America, with 20 locations in the US and Canada. Its company-wide commitment is to support the success of everyone involved in an HVAC system’s selection, design, purchase, installation, and maintenance, including employees, suppliers, customers, and end users. The HVAC/R Start-up Technician serves as a subject matter expert for processes, procedures, and projects. The role includes starting up refrigeration systems, performing EMS wiring and programming, leading small projects, assisting with supermarket retro-commissioning and upgrade projects, and supporting branch Service and Construction Managers between projects. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Coursework at an accredited vocational-technical or trade school.
- At least 3 years of experience with supermarket EMS systems.
- At least 5 years of experience in commercial refrigeration, especially with parallel rack systems.
Nice To Haves
- EMS certification preferred.
- Experience with CO2 parallel rack systems is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Perform evacuations of parallel racks after verifying pressure tests.
- Perform EMS wiring and programming for manufacturers’ EMS systems.
- Perform full start-up of new parallel refrigeration systems and individual systems.
- Lead small projects, such as single-case and condenser changeouts.
- Assist with EO projects, including supermarket retro-commissioning for system performance or utility programs, EMS upgrades, leak detection upgrades, and gas conversion projects.
- Work with local branch Service and Construction Managers between projects to assist with problematic stores, train junior technicians and foremen, or provide other needed support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
