About The Position

We’re looking for a dependable, energetic, team-driven person to join the expert Installation Team. The installer is expected to bring a helpful attitude, eagerness to learn, and commitment to serving customers while developing a meaningful career. Apply technical skills and knowledge to maintain, troubleshoot, install, and repair ventilation, heating, and cooling systems. Design installations, replacements, and remodels in accordance with recognized procedures and techniques. Work independently, as part of a team, and with minimal supervision. Complete paperwork accurately and promptly, perform system start-ups, and deliver excellent customer service. Follow procedures to keep the company vehicle properly stocked, return defective and unused parts to the warehouse manager, and replenish supplies as needed. The role requires working safely and professionally, arriving on time, following through on customer concerns, and communicating with supervisors and comfort advisors. Installers may recommend maintenance programs or products to customers. NATE certification is required within one year of hire. Uniforms are provided and must be worn according to the image policy. The position requires flexibility, the ability to work necessary hours to meet organizational needs, and on-call and overtime work as needed. Pay is $18 to $21 per hour plus incentives based upon experience.

Requirements

Current driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability through the Schaafsma carrier.
Ability to pass initial and random drug screening.
Ability to pass a national background check.
Strong oral and reading skills.
Ability to work in Michigan environmental conditions.

Strong multitasking skills and phone, computer, and people skills.
Ability to build and encourage a positive work culture and be a willing, engaged team player.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to bend, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, push, pull, reach overhead, stand, carry loads over 75 pounds, enter very small areas, and climb ladders to rooftops and chimney liners.
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and climb in and out of vans and box trucks.
Ability to be flexible and effectively handle change.
Ability to work necessary hours to meet organizational needs, including on-call and overtime hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Install heating, air-conditioning, ventilation, and other products according to Schaafsma requirements and manufacturer specifications.
Maintain, troubleshoot, install, and repair ventilation, heating, and cooling systems.
Design HVAC installations, replacements, and remodels using recognized procedures and techniques.
Perform start-up on air-conditioning and furnace systems.
Complete paperwork neatly, accurately, thoroughly, and on time.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain high customer satisfaction.
Keep the company vehicle properly stocked, return defective and unused parts to the warehouse manager, and replenish the vehicle as needed.
Pay attention to detail and follow up on and follow through with concerns or questions.
Arrive on time to calls and work collaboratively to complete the job and provide great customer service.
Work safely and professionally at all times.
Recommend maintenance programs or products to customers, such as AC covers and humidifiers.
Communicate with supervisors and comfort advisors as needed.
Obtain NATE certification within one year of hire.
Perform other duties as assigned.
