About The Position

Air Handlers OBX is hiring a full-time, year-round HVAC Installer to support heating and cooling installations and service throughout the Outer Banks. The role contributes to high-quality work and a positive experience for homeowners and vacation rental guests. Pay is $40,000–$55,000 per year, depending on experience and proven ability, as determined by the General Manager. The schedule is generally Monday through Friday, with hours varying as work requires and a rotating after-hours on-call schedule. Weekend and holiday work may be required as needed. On-call shifts receive extra pay; overtime is infrequent and unlikely but may be required during emergencies, staffing shortages, or high work volume. This is a hands-on, fast-paced, physically strenuous role that involves driving a company vehicle to job sites around the Outer Banks, operating basic tools and equipment, and working indoors and outdoors. Work may involve extreme temperatures, high winds, hazardous chemicals, odors, dirt, dust, attics, crawl spaces, stairs, ladders, and congested traffic. Employees must be able to perform the listed physical and communication tasks; reasonable accommodations may be reviewed and processed through Human Resources.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR), with at least three years of driving experience.
Ability to pass a background check.
Comfort using a smartphone, tablet, or similar electronic device; attention to detail and solid organizational skills.

Ability to read and comprehend, write legibly, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to complete forms, read reports, and visually determine the working order of units and other property facilities.
Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using hands and fingers to control objects.
Ability to lift 50 pounds individually without assistance and up to 100 pounds with assistance, regularly and daily.
Ability to work variable hours and assigned schedules, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed; punctuality is required.

Responsibilities

Perform HVAC installation and service work.
