About The Position

The HVAC Field Service Technician is the primary service and maintenance contact for Trane Technologies customers in a defined market, serving a diverse commercial base that includes healthcare, process manufacturing, education, and office facilities. The technician commissions, troubleshoots, repairs, and starts up commercial HVAC systems, applying knowledge of air-conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts. The role works with internal and external partners on new facility setups and existing facility retrofits. It is field-based, with work conducted on-site at customer locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Typically, 5 or more years of commercial HVAC service experience.
• EPA certification.
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and working proficiency with a handheld computer, such as a smartphone or iPad.
• Valid driver's license held for at least 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations, including specified violations or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the team leader or project manager and the customer to understand on-site installation and repair requirements, forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize work.
• Serve as the direct customer contact and take responsibility for products and equipment on assigned projects.
• Identify, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems at customer locations to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Use software, technology, hand tools, blueprints, and engineering specifications to diagnose and repair units.
• Work overtime and weekends as business needs require, including occasional overnight stays.
• Enforce safety standards and maintain the security and accountability of company-issued and procured assets by recording their use, wear, and condition.
