About The Position

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced HVAC Journeyman Mechanic to join their IMPACT Fly Team. This role involves extensive travel (50-75%) to work on advanced commercial HVAC systems in critical environments such as hospitals, data centers, and manufacturing facilities. The position focuses on troubleshooting, repairs, and full system installations, utilizing modern tools and diagnostic techniques. The role also involves customer interaction, team collaboration, and mentorship of apprentices. Johnson Controls emphasizes safety, comprehensive training, and career advancement through their Service Technical Academy.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience working on commercial or industrial HVAC systems.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting a range of equipment, including chillers, boilers, pumps, compressors, and related systems.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, including alignment and vibration diagnostics.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to teammates and customers.
  • Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time.
  • Hold a Universal EPA refrigerant license.
  • Participation in the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices is required.
  • Subject to all pre-hiring screening of JCI.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install advanced commercial HVAC systems.
  • Work with a wide range of equipment including chillers, compressors, pumps, rooftop units, and building automation systems.
  • Utilize modern tools such as laser alignment and vibration analysis.
  • Serve as a trusted expert to customers, diagnosing issues and explaining solutions.
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals, sharing knowledge and supporting apprentices.
  • Participate in the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices.
  • Travel 50-75% of the time as part of the IMPACT Fly Team.
