About The Position

This position will function as a member of the Individual Placement and Support Supported Employment (IPS-SE) program within the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health. IPS-SE is a community-based service which aims to assist individuals with serious mental illness to find and maintain competitive employment in the community, an essential component of individuals’ recovery. The IPS-SE program works closely with behavioral health service providers and the department of Employment and Independence for Persons with Disabilities (EIPD, formerly Vocational Rehabilitation).

Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be able to travel within the local community.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness.
Experience in vocational rehabilitation or employment services.
Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

Engagement – Providing information about employment and employment supports to encourage individuals to consider pursuing their vocational goals
Assessment – Gathering information about individuals’ employment and educational histories, goals, and preferences to create a person-centered employment plan
Job Development – Connecting and developing warm relationships with potential employers in the community to better understand their hiring needs and create opportunities for IPS-SE participants
Job Search – Assisting individuals in exploring employment opportunities that match their preferences and goals
Follow-Along Supports – Providing ongoing support to individuals after securing employment to promote success on the job and continue to make progress toward their personal goals.
Participate in IPS-SE team activities including weekly team meetings, treatment team meetings with behavioral health partners, and regular meetings with EIPD.
Responsible for timely completion of required service documentation.
May assist in outcomes tracking and reporting for the program.
