About The Position

The City of Claremont is seeking an enthusiastic Human Resources Technician to join their high-performing Human Resources team. This role offers hands-on experience across a wide variety of Human Resources programs, with a focus on professional growth and development. The position encourages asking questions, taking initiative, and building skills to become a well-rounded HR professional. The ideal candidate will be a trusted partner to the organization, enjoying relationship building, problem-solving, and providing exceptional customer service with a balance of empathy and accountability. This role provides valuable experience in recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, workers' compensation, leave administration, classification and compensation, employee engagement, and special projects. Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of clerical, administrative, or technical experience, preferably in a human resources or public sector environment.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, applicant communication, testing, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Assisting with employee benefits administration and responding to employee questions.
  • Supporting workers' compensation and leave administration processes.
  • Maintaining HRIS and personnel records while ensuring confidentiality and data accuracy.
  • Preparing reports, correspondence, and employment documents.
  • Assisting with classification and compensation studies, employee engagement initiatives, wellness programs, and special projects.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to employees, supervisors, applicants, and the public.
  • Helping identify opportunities to improve HR processes and enhance service delivery.
