About The Position

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join their Team as a Human Resources Technician. This position functions as an advocate for applicants navigating the recruitment process, involving frequent follow-ups and one-on-one interaction with candidates. The role offers an opportunity to advance one's career within the Department of Corrections.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of administrative experience, data entry and customer service
  • Knowledge or supporting pre-employment processing (gathering and verifying documents, completing required HR entries, updating systems) to ensure a smooth hiring/onboarding flow
  • Experience following up with applicants, collecting required hiring documents, and keeping the applicant pipeline organized in an HR system
  • Pass a background investigation
  • Take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter
  • Possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks (if driving is an essential function)
  • Maintain acceptable driving records and complete all required driver training (if driving is an essential function)
  • Maintain statutorily required liability insurance (if operating a personally owned vehicle on state business)
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

Responsibilities

  • Follows up daily with applicants by telephone or in person to obtain necessary hiring documentation (birth certificates, social security cards, etc.) as required
  • Provides assistance in acquiring documents as necessary
  • Refers and schedules applicants for each step of the recruitment process
  • Inputs results from medical clinics, psych results and/or backgrounds
  • Follows up for results from medical clinics or psych results, and follows up with applicants in regards to results from medical or psych
  • Tracks all defer applicants and follows up on day of deferral
  • Maintains a daily log of interactions with applicants and inputs information into the Recruitment Unit for Selection and Hiring (RUSH) Hiring System (HS) accordingly
  • Assists in testing processes as required
  • Assists applicants in ensuring paperwork is completed and prepares paperwork for completion
  • Drive on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
