About The Position

Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will conduct daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, on-boarding, HR and benefits administration, employee relations and enforcing company policies and practices. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field from a four-year college and 2 years’ experience in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with other employees, Supervisors, and Managers to share information, instruct and train in company policy and procedures.
  • Must be able to write documents and correspondence in a professional manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions and complex documents furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational, time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS related software.
  • Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include office equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • A broad knowledge of general manufacturing practices is preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or familiarity with applicable ISO/TS and quality system requirements and policies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruiting for hourly production and skilled roles, along with non-exempt roles in the Support function. Activities include but not limited to candidate screening, phone interviews, coordinating on-site interviews with Supervisors/Managers, extend offers, drug screening, conducting background checks and referral/sign on bonus tracking and processing
  • Plan and conduct new employee on-boarding program to foster positive relations with new hires, educate and help new hires learn about the organization, company policies, and understand company initiatives and goals
  • Communicates with Plant Managers and Supervisors on basic personnel issues and status of job openings
  • Maintain and enter HRIS employee data accurately and timely from the applicant phase through separation including, hiring, confidential data, wage changes, transfers, promotions, and terminations for non-exempt and production employees
  • Manage company uniform program, including day-to-day administration, notifying payroll and updating the HRIS system
  • Prepare and ensure that employee termination notices and related documents are prepared accurately and timely.
  • Assist HR Manager with completing unemployment insurance requests and employment verifications
  • Conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind terminations and share with appropriate management
  • Prepare reports and recommend procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover
  • Co-chair with the HR Manager, the Signicast Engagement Team including assisting with company events, create marketing materials and communications, social media posts, participate in developing the annual budget and activities, and be an active member of the team
  • Create, develop and manage employee digital communications through the use of our internal communication boards, bulletin boards, and social media sites, to ensure employees are aware of job opportunities, company activities and events, policy changes/updates, new hires, and other pertinent employee communications. Also assist the recruiting team in developing marketing materials for job fairs and community awareness
  • Filing, general administration of HR paperwork (I-9, acknowledgements, policy, referrals, etc.)
  • May be asked to train other new members to the HR Team on various HR job duties
  • Back up receptionist which includes greeting visitors and answering phones during various times during the day
  • Processing receipts of safety shoes, safety glasses, employee referrals and various company charges to Accounts Payable
