About The Position

The Human Resources Specialist provides assistance and facilitates human resources functions for the Briarcliff campus and Topeka as needed. This role specifically manages aspects of the recruitment process, offers supervisor support, acts as an employee relations contact, manages forms, and oversees the workers’ compensation process and claims. The position operates primarily in a professional office environment and requires constant alertness for resident safety, with potential exposure to infectious diseases. The role also involves interaction with residents, family members, and staff under various conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of human resources experience preferred (consideration for experience and education may be given in lieu of the bachelor’s degree and two years per management’s discretion).

Responsibilities

  • Manage the selection/hiring process, including requisitions, job advertisements, and processing applications/resumes.
  • Build networking relationships with colleges, trade schools, and other entities, and attend career fairs to source qualified candidates.
  • Act as a point of contact and provide guidance on employee relations issues such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns, conducting interviews and actions per the grievance procedure.
  • Provide assistance to managers and/or supervisors on questions regarding termination, requests for time off, transfers, or promotions.
  • Manage all workers’ compensation claims, acting as the point of contact, responding to questions, and tracking claims until completion.
  • Complete OSHA 300 and 300A forms.
  • Answer staff questions regarding personnel policies and procedures.
  • Develop, prepare, and generate ad-hoc special reports pertaining to staff information and data, including recruitment and applicant tracking.
  • Monitor employee turnover.
  • Maintain required employment postings (minimum wage, worker’s compensation, unemployment, ADA, etc.).
  • Annually review and recommend improvements for organization policies, procedures, and practices (job descriptions, personnel handbook, retention practices, selection process, compensation and benefits programs, performance evaluation program).
  • Communicate changes in policies and procedures.
  • File EEO-1 annual report.
  • Assist with benefit communication and enrollments.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local jurisdictions.
  • Revise/update State-specific prohibited offenses.
  • Provide backup for new employee orientations.
  • Assist with retention strategies and employee recognition initiatives.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the CFO, including special projects related to human resources functions.
