About The Position

Assists with the recruitment of qualified candidates, ensuring compliance with Town policies and relevant employment laws. This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week. The Human Resources Department is responsible for administering the recruitment process, including developing position postings, reviewing applicant information, developing and implementing pre-employment tests, compiling results, and assisting with interviews. The role also involves responding to applicant inquiries, assisting hiring managers with job needs and hiring strategies, updating job descriptions, and assisting with new hire orientation and other HR projects. The position requires applying professional knowledge to resolve HR problems, performing research, developing reports, and supporting Town policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Public or Business Administration or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of recruiting experience, including providing hiring managers with appropriate guidance during candidate screening processes and interviews.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resource policies, procedures, methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laws pertaining to hiring practices as well as employment laws including but not limited to Fair Labor Stands Act (FLSA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Word and Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize assignments to achieve established objectives within time schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to exercise diplomacy, tact and sound judgment.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Pass/Fail Computer Skills Test

Responsibilities

  • Administers recruitment process, including the development of position postings, reviewing applicant information, development, implementation and scheduling of pre-employment tests and evaluations, compilation and review of results and assistance with participation in the interview process with hiring managers.
  • Responds to applicant inquiries regarding the recruitment process and hiring decisions.
  • Assists hiring managers to define job needs and plan hiring strategies.
  • Updates job descriptions as necessary.
  • Assists with new hire orientation program.
  • Assists with diverse Human Resources projects and activities, as needed.
  • Applies professional knowledge and judgment in the resolution of a variety of human resource problems.
  • Performs research and develops reports as required.
  • Supports Town policies and philosophies.
  • Performs other related duties.
