About The Position

Franklin Pierce University is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Recruitment & Onboarding Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This role supports the full lifecycle of hiring and onboarding for faculty, staff, and student employees. You will work closely with hiring managers to ensure equitable and inclusive hiring practices, enhance the applicant tracking system, and deliver a positive onboarding experience. In addition, this position plays a key role in maintaining payroll accuracy by verifying employee data and collaborating with payroll staff to resolve discrepancies. A strong commitment to data integrity and customer service is essential. This is an in-person, campus-based role. The successful candidate will be expected to work on-site at our Rindge, NH campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of human resources regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment, employment laws, for example: Americans with Disabilities Act, and Affirmative Action & Equal Opportunity preferred.
  • Experience working within the recruitment and hiring process highly preferred.
  • Experience with payroll/data entry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.
  • Knowledge of diversity networking and/or recruiting initiatives.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn applicant-tracking software or other recruitment systems.
  • High level of mastery of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook calendar and email. Moderate level of proficiency with Adobe Acrobat. Must demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to stay current with emerging office technologies.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Works closely with the Human Resources Team to ensure all reporting functions are done correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Proven effectiveness and ability to collaborate and work with a wide range of professionals, staff, and administrators, as well as external organizations. Must be able to establish and maintain trusting relationships with peers, students, staff and leadership.
  • Represent the University by exhibiting a demeanor that is welcoming, open, and professional. Ability to generate confidence with the University’s community.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, and implement all phases of the job posting process to ensure a robust and diverse candidate pool.
  • Apply best practices on diversity recruitment and educate hiring managers and search committees through effective recruitment strategies.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to create accurate job postings.
  • Coordinate, and manage all phases of the hiring process, from job posting to onboarding.
  • Enter, audit, and verify employee data in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and payroll system with a high level of accuracy.
  • Maintain a system of checks and balances, including cross-referencing entries against offer letters, employment records, and departmental input to ensure accuracy before payroll deadlines.
  • Collaborate with payroll staff to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely and accurate processing of new hires, terminations, and employee status changes.
  • Handle sensitive payroll data with confidentiality and follow all established procedures for internal controls and compliance.
  • Support and enhance the applicant tracking system (ATS), including taking the lead on training users on new functionality.
  • Recommend and implement strategies to improve recruitment and onboarding processes and services.
  • Keep up to date with Human Resources trends and best practices to maintain a modern, equitable recruitment process.
  • Manage and monitor the Human Resources email and voicemail accounts; respond or redirect inquiries as appropriate.
  • Assist with payroll-related tasks and ad hoc HR projects as needed.
  • Support the broader Human Resources team by cross-training and providing backup coverage to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and University policies.
