Human Resources (HR) Manager

Versa NetworksSanta Clara, CA
$130,000 - $180,000Hybrid

About The Position

Versa Networks is looking for an HR Manager to join our growing People & Talent team. This is a hands-on generalist role for someone who thrives on variety, takes ownership, and brings both operational rigor and genuine care for the employee experience. You will serve as a key day-to-day HR resource for employees and managers across the company, helping to keep our people operations running smoothly while contributing to larger initiatives across compliance, employee relations, policy, and process improvement. This is a great opportunity for an experienced HR professional who wants to grow in a fast-moving, global technology environment.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of HR generalist experience, ideally in a technology, startup, or high-growth environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of U.S. employment law and multi-state compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or a comparable HRIS/payroll platform.
  • Strong employee relations instincts — you know how to listen, de-escalate, and find the right path forward.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities without dropping the ball.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you can adjust your style from a one-on-one with an employee to a policy memo for the company.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by building — this is not a role where all the processes are already in place.
  • A collaborative, low-ego team player who is as comfortable rolling up their sleeves as they are thinking strategically.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; SHRM-CP or PHR certification a plus.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employees and managers on HR questions, policies, and workplace matters.
  • Handle employee relations issues with discretion, sound judgment, and a solutions-oriented approach — escalating when appropriate.
  • Support the administration of PTO, leaves of absence, and other employee lifecycle processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain employee records and HR data with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Champion Versa's culture and values, creating programs and touchpoints that reinforce belonging and engagement across a distributed global workforce.
  • Help ensure Versa's people practices remain compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws across our U.S. locations.
  • Support the maintenance and ongoing updates of the employee handbook and HR policies, flagging changes in law or best practice.
  • Assist with documentation and process for separations, including coordination of separation agreements, final pay, and offboarding logistics.
  • Partner with the People and legal team on employment compliance matters as needed.
  • Partner with the People Team to develop and implement performance management frameworks, including goal-setting, feedback cycles, and manager coaching.
  • Develop manager training and leadership development programs.
  • Build career development pathways and learning programs that support retention and internal mobility.
  • Own day-to-day administration in ADP Workforce Now, ensuring employee data is accurate and up to date.
  • Support the future evaluation and implementation of an HRIS, serving as an operational partner in the rollout.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR workflows and processes, bringing solutions rather than just problems.
  • Prepare HR reports and people data summaries to support leadership decision-making.
  • Manage and evolve employee benefits programs across the U.S. and international markets, with a focus on equity, value, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee equity administration and ensure employees understand and appreciate their total compensation.
  • Work closely with the People Team on ad hoc projects, policy rollouts, and people initiatives as the company continues to grow.
  • Collaborate with our People Team (who owns benefits, onboarding, and background checks) to ensure a connected, consistent employee experience.
