About The Position

The HR Generalist supports day-to-day HR operations across the employee lifecycle, with a focus on HR operations, compliance, employee relations, and HR systems administration. This role partners with HR leadership and business leaders to ensure compliant, consistent practices across a multi-site, regulated workforce, including special education and clinical environments. The position exercises independent judgment and supports investigations, audits, and complex employee matters while promoting a positive employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience
  • HR Generalist II: 4–6 years progressive HR experience
  • HR Generalist III: 6–9+ years progressive HR experience
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements
  • Multi-state workforce experience
  • Experience managing employee lifecycle transactions and documentation
  • Experience conducting or supporting employee relations investigations
  • Strong HRIS experience, strong preference for ADP WFN and Workday experience
  • High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion
  • Strong skill set with Microsoft Office and Office 365, particularly Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Current HR certification (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, or similar)
  • Experience supporting special education, clinical, healthcare, or regulated service environments

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee lifecycle transactions including hires, job changes, status changes, leaves, and terminations
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of employee data and documentation within HRIS and personnel files
  • Review and validate HR transactions for policy and regulatory compliance
  • Develop and maintain standardized HR operational procedures and documentation
  • Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement in HR operations workflows
  • Serve as a primary HR contact for employees and managers on HR policies, practices, and employee concerns, and partner with leaders to resolve issues in a timely and fair manner
  • Conduct or support workplace investigations and fact-finding reviews
  • Provide policy interpretation and risk-aware guidance to leaders
  • Partner with leaders to resolve employee concerns in a timely and fair manner
  • Draft and review employee communications and corrective action documentation
  • Maintain high data integrity standards within HRIS and related systems
  • Perform regular audits of HR data and transactions
  • Partner with Benefits and Payroll teams to resolve data and workflow issues
  • Support system implementations, enhancements, and testing
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Support multi-state compliance requirements and jurisdictional variations
  • Maintain required employment records and compliance documentation
  • Partner with HR leadership on internal audits and external compliance reviews
  • Support regulatory reporting and government agency responses
  • Monitor required credentials, licensure, and background clearance requirements for regulated roles
  • Serve as an HR point of contact for employees and managers with questions related to benefits, leaves of absence, ADA accommodations, and workers’ compensation processes
  • Provide front-line guidance and intake support, and route complex or formal cases to the Benefits & Risk team
  • Coordinate with the Benefits & Risk team and third-party administrators to support case processing and communication
