We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist who is passionate about supporting employees and fostering positive employee relations within a diverse workforce. In this role, you will provide support across all functional areas of Human Resources within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is an on-site role supporting multiple shifts within our manufacturing facility in Temperance, Michigan.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three to five years of Human Resources experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, compensation and benefits programs, employee relations practices, and other HR functions.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be reliable, results-oriented, collaborative, and team-focused.
  • Must be able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and effectively meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to support multiple shifts and business needs.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the consistent application of Human Resources programs and policies, including employment, compensation, staffing strategies, benefits, investigations, training, payroll, and employee relations.
  • Serve as the day-to-day HR contact for frontline supervisors and employees regarding employee relations matters.
  • Partner with HR leadership and site leadership to manage the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, job description management, employee development, and offboarding activities.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to streamline recruitment and onboarding processes for hourly and salaried positions. Support hiring efforts through on-site and off-site recruiting events, interviews, and new hire orientation.
  • Conduct and coordinate training sessions for leaders and employees on topics such as HR compliance, leadership development, and company policies and procedures.
  • Counsel leaders and employees regarding career development opportunities and job-specific training needs.
  • Support retention initiatives by tracking and analyzing key metrics, including hiring, turnover, retention, and overtime. Conduct exit interviews and recommend retention strategies.
  • Investigate and assist in resolving employee concerns, including issues related to performance, conduct, and attendance. Mediate workplace conflicts and provide guidance on corrective action and documentation.
  • Provide guidance to leaders, supervisors, and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist with the development, review, communication, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support leave administration, including FMLA and discretionary leaves. Partner with HR leadership to facilitate ADA interactive processes and evaluate reasonable accommodations.
  • Prepare and process HR documentation, including employee status changes, disciplinary actions, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Assist with unemployment claims administration and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records within HRIS and timekeeping systems. Monitor data integrity for reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Support the facility's safety initiatives, including participation in safety committees and workers' compensation administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
