About The Position

This posting is for a Fixed Term position which is anticipated to end December 31, 2026. Under general direction, the Human Resources (HR) Generalist I provides guidance and support to employees, managers, applicants and HR teams across a broad range of HR matters. Leads day-to-day HR programs and system transactions; maintains, inputs, and reviews confidential employee or applicant information in accordance with established laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements. This role also supports the HR team on complex projects.

  • Three (3) years of professional HR experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and processes system and employee or applicant transactions in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), such as position management, job requisitions, delegations, compensation changes, onboarding setups, and organizational assignment changes. Ensuring compliance with federal and state labor laws, city policies, and union agreements.
  • Handles employment, termination, applicant or HR system related inquiries by staff and managers as assigned through ticketing systems, phone, email, or during in-person interactions. Triages inquiries as appropriate and escalates concerns when needed.
  • Assists in the administration and implementation of all HR Department programs. Assistance may include research, gathering input for program development, targeting distribution of resources, evaluating consistency of program application, reporting, or training.
  • Develops, maintains, and reviews Technical Guides, Standard Operating Procedures, and How-To Guides for assigned tasks. Provides direct input into the development and recommendation of process-related improvements.
  • Connects employees, managers, and HR Staff to appropriate HR tools and resources, and provides Workday transaction process support to assigned city departments.
  • Conducts periodic and regular audits to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Develops and assists with testing of Enterprise Integration Batch (EIB) data files, participates in recommendation of Business Process changes and enhancements.
  • Assists in data gathering or response development to Colorado Open Records Act (CORA), Inquire Boulder tickets, or ad hoc data requests.
  • Collaborates with Benefits, Leaves, Compensation, Risk, and Payroll teams on questions related to employee data to ensure accurate employee pay checks are processed.
  • Works collaboratively with all HR teams and key cross-functional groups to share knowledge of emerging issues and proactively deliver service to improve the employee experience.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Provides training, guidance, support, and thought partnership to more junior team members.
