Ames National Laboratory is a U.S. Department of Energy federally contracted National Laboratory located in Ames, Iowa, on the campus of Iowa State University. The Human Resources Office at Ames National Laboratory is searching for qualified candidates for a Human Resources Generalist. The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for the department, providing exceptional customer service for visitors, guests and employees while delivering results in several highly visible and important human resources areas. Specifically, this role will be responsible for business processes related to undergraduate students, graduate assistants, Ames Laboratory contributors, visitors, and other appointments at the Laboratory. The HR Generalist supports the HR team with recruitment, systems compliance and data integrity, offering front-level guidance and support to employees and supervisors, and visa verification processing and responding to internal and external inquiries. Integral to the department’s success, the HR Generalist reports to the Senior HR Generalist and interacts with individuals at every level within the Laboratory and Iowa State University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
  • Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Offer front-level guidance and support to employees and supervisors.
  • Process visa verification and respond to internal and external inquiries.
