About The Position

Manage the volunteer program for the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. Manage the employee retention activities for the entire organization. Assist in the management of all human resource operations within the organization.

Requirements

  • Related undergraduate degree in Business, Human Resources, or closely related field.
  • Minimum of one year of Human Resource Management experience required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willing to learn programs necessary to Human Resources functions.
  • Must have the ability to communicate professionally effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to present in public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to relate well with people on all levels.
  • Must have a clean driving record and the ability to be approved as a driver under the organization’s auto insurance carrier.
  • Must be willing to travel to various areas of the CBCO service area.

Nice To Haves

  • a minimum of three years of experience is preferred.
  • Prior volunteer management or employee recruitment experience preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR or equivalent certification preferred; must be willing to obtain certification as part of performance expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the volunteer program activities which include but is not limited to: Recruitment of long-term volunteers in all four centers with a focus on recruiting formerly ineligible long-term donors. Recruitment of internships in areas that would be beneficial to expanding community awareness of CBCO’s role in the local community. Responsible for the volunteer job postings, volunteer application tracking, volunteer interviewing, and volunteer onboarding activities. Hold volunteer training at initial onboarding and periodically as needed. Maintain the long-term volunteer and internships schedules. Supervise volunteers to ensure they are only completing activities that are allowed in the scope of their work. Complete and maintain volunteer records including volunteer expectation agreements, volunteer schedules, volunteer recorded hours, initial and annual background checks, performance information, and any other pertinent volunteer records. Develop community connections to recruit volunteers and interns. This may include but is not limited to local colleges, senior centers, community centers, and volunteer programs. Participate in the Volunteer Leaders of the Ozarks. Coordinate with the Senior Director of Human Resources to ensure that the volunteer program is limited to activities that bring benefit to the organization. Including the adequate number of volunteers in each center who are completing pre-approved activities of meaningful impact to the organization. Attend various community engagement events as needed to develop community awareness of the CBCO volunteer program.
  • Coordinate under the guidance of the Senior Director employee retention initiatives which include: Complete an annual engagement survey and present analysis of results to the Senior Director of Human Resources and Executive Director. Complete additional engagement surveys as requested. Coordinate the annual Service Awards banquet including ordering awards promotional materials. Coordinate and assist with implementation of all retirement parties, annual employee appreciation activities, and employee special events. Complete stay and exit interview as requested. Implement retention activities and implementation throughout the entire organization. This may include but is not limited to implementing employee retention processes clearly and consistently.
  • Responsible for the implementation of FMLA compliance and tracking which include: Ensuring the FMLA tracking database is current. Ensuring all documentation is received in a timely manner. Ensuring all notifications and designation notices are completed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for COBRA compliance notifications for current and departing employees.
  • Assist the Senior Director of Human Resources with the completion of all organizational surveys.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, applicant screening, interviewing process, and onboarding of entry-level positions in accounting, building operations, and donor recruitment.
  • Support the Human Resources Generalist II with recruitment, applicant screening, interviewing process, and onboarding of Donor Room Services, Component Lab, and Distribution employees.
  • Responsible for assisting the Human Resources Generalist II completing various Work Comp activities and OSHA reporting. Including, but not limited to, reporting to insurance carrier, accident review, ensuring medical appointments are scheduled and attended, maintaining the required OSHA documentation, and reporting in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Responsible assisting the Senior Director, Human Resources for all aspects of Human Resources as needed.
  • Processes all changes in the HR database to include new hires, transfers, promotions, salary increases, address and tax changes, and benefit deductions in the absence of the Senior Director of HR or the HR Generalist II.
  • Administers personnel policies as directed by the Senior Director, Human Resources.
  • Responsible for compliance with all Federal and State requirements including COBRA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Affirmative Action, and workers’ compensation.
  • Assist the receptionist/switchboard operators as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide excellent customer service, cultivating positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers, and external customers.
  • Exhibit safety, accuracy, respectfulness, and efficiency within specific job tasks.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
