About The Position

This position administers workers compensation and safety programs including: interpretation of regulations, policy development and interpretation and workers compensation claims processing. Additionally, the position administers employee safety and HR-related training programs.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years experience in workers compensation and/or employee safety programs ; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in response to questions and requests from County employees, Elected Officials, Department Directors and public regarding workers compensation, safety, and other HR-related matters.
  • Serves as liaison with Arizona Counties Insurance Pool (ACIP) for County’s safety and workers compensation programs; coordinates collection of documentation, evaluates findings and recommends solutions to resolve safety and workplace injury incidents; provides guidance to employees to ensure immediate medical care is provided, as necessary and prepares regulatory documentation. Maintains all workers compensation records, files, documentation and databases.
  • Serves as direct contact and works closely with Arizona Department of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) for County’s participation in the Public Entity Protection Program (PEPP).
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures, programs and plans for employee safety and health for compliance with ADOSH and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and other Federal, State or local requirements.
  • Analyzes, compiles, composes and reports data required by ACIP, OSHA, ADOSH, the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and other governmental agencies recordkeeping and reporting regulations.
  • Oversees on-line employee training program; assigns appropriate training courses; manages and maintains data; monitors employees’ training progress and prepares compliance reports. Administers, schedules and conducts in-person employee training on workers compensation, employee safety and health and HR-related subjects. Assists with training component of County’s Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program for compliance with Federal and State regulations to ensure the Public Works Department is meeting these requirements.
  • Conducts research and prepares statistical and administrative reports related to workers compensation and employee safety activities. Coordinates, compiles and submits data required by ACIP for annual insurance renewal of County owned property and assets. Oversees, coordinates and prepares required Certificates of Insurance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
